Join us on a journey into a fascinating world of unique customs, rich traditions, and exciting updates. We’d love to bring you closer to the culture of Bhutan while sharing the latest progress from our project in Bumthang.
May 2025: Happy Birthday!
The PATRIZIA Foundation warmly congratulates Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck, the Queen Mother of Bhutan, and expresses its heartfelt thanks for the trust placed in our partnership to strengthen vocational education for young people in Bhutan.
We are especially delighted by the visible progress on site in Bumthang – above all, the construction of the new access road, for which we extend our sincere thanks to the Gyalyum Charitable Trust.

April 2025: Bhutanese monastery festival Paro Tshechu full of spirituality, dance and colour
Tshechu, meaning “tenth day” in Dzongkha, Bhutan’s national language, is a vibrant religious festival held to honour Guru Rinpoche and seek his blessings. The celebration features traditional masked and costumed dances, rich in symbolism and spiritual meaning.
Every district (Dzongkhag) in Bhutan hosts its own Tshechu at different times throughout the year, with the Paro and Thimphu Tshechus being the most renowned. On these festive days, people dress in their finest gho and kira, gather with family and friends, and celebrate with food, laughter, and prayer.

December 2024: Start of construction for the access road to the project site
We are delighted to announce that construction of the access road to the future PATRIZIA Vocational Training Centre in Bumthang has officially begun. This marks a significant milestone in the realisation of our project and brings us one step closer to our goal of creating better educational opportunities for young people in Bhutan.

September 2018: Panel discussion with the Queen Mother of Bhutan
At a top-notch panel discussion headlined “Foundation work in an international context,” the groundwork for our new educational initiative in Bhutan was set. The Queen Mother of Bhutan and her 2004-founded RENEW charity were among the participants. This is the only organization in the nation that provides a safe haven, particularly for women and children who are vulnerable to abuse. The PATRIZIA Vocational Training Centre in Bumthang is a new project that Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck indicated she would like to begin with us in the Himalayas.
A unique occasion—and the beginning of a successful collaboration!
