Highlights 2021

Project trip Tanzania

The first project trip since the beginning of the Corona pandemic led to the beginnings of the foundation: to Tanzania.Project Manager Kristian Bollmann from the PATRIZIA Foundation visited the Kinderhaus facilities inPeramiho and Songea in July 2021. On this occasion, he also inspected the newly built PATRIZIA Primary School Songea.

Project trip Cameroon

The “Digital Classroom” project in Cameroon began with a teacher training course: In July 2021 Beatrice Rutishauser Ramm conducted with the teachers and school management at the PATRIZIA School Yaoundé the course “Ready for Digital Learning” training. It is the basis for child-centered learning – and an step on the way to a school concept of quality education.

Interview

Building partnerships of equalsIn conversation with Friedbert Ottacher

Even as a boy scout, Friedbert Ottacher experienced what it means to stick together and take responsibility for the community. It is precisely these experiences that still shape his value system today as someone who has been involved in cooperation between so-called developing and industrialized countries for over 20 years. Andreas Menke spoke with him about the North-South divide and the importance of education.

What happened in the children’s homes?

Uganda

Schools in Uganda were closed for almost two years after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. For schoolchildren, that meant no lessons for 83 weeks. The pupils at PATRIZIA School Buyamba were completely denied any form of education when their school was forced to close. Over several stages, the PATRIZIA Foundation helped the school prepare to reopen after the lockdown.

India

India was particularly hard hit by the second wave of Covid-19 in the spring of 2021. Within a very short time, the healthcare system was completely overwhelmed by the spread of the Delta variant. PATRIZIA Child Care Porayar was also badly affected by the pandemic. The PATRIZIA Foundation invested money from the Covid-19 relief fund to help the KinderHaus facility.

South Africa

.Like all educational institutions in South Africa, for much of 2020, PATRIZIA Child Care Western Cape was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For children receiving nursery-level support at the KinderHaus facility, the school closure also meant that they could no longer receive meals in the way they had before the pandemic. The foundation used money provided by the emergency coronavirus fund to help.

Partner for a better future

We think and act in generations. For each children’s home, the PATRIZIA Foundation has a carefully selected local partner with whom the foundation will operate side by side in the projects for at least 25 years.

The PATRIZIA Foundation’s most important funding partner is PATRIZIA AG. It covers all of the Foundation’s operating costs, which is why all donations to

100 % go directly into the projects. The employees of the real estate company are also involved in volunteering activities for the benefit of the foundation.

Companies can support the PATRIZIA Foundation in various ways: as a member of the Sponsor Circle or through a corporate partnership, which is also the basis for further CSR commitment up to and including corporate volunteering.

Outlook 2022

The Digital Classroom project, which has already begun, will continue to be implemented in 2022 in the three pilot countries of Cameroon, Nepal and Rwanda, and will be launched in other countries such as South Africa and Kenya. In each country, the very different project conditions must be taken into account.

However, the goal is always the same: Creating access to quality education that incorporates digital opportunities.
